Yesterday I was just minding my business trying to stay warm in this blistering heat wave and Jordan Kicks started falling from the sky. The were wrapped up in plastic bags and hitting the pool like a drug shipment. Now that’s what I call AIR DROP! Ok maybe I’m being a little dramatic but I figured it would make for a good story.

These are the  Air Jordan 1 Retro High’s in Wolf Grey/Spice-White. The retail value of these is $110 and should be in stores this fall. These are pretty dope and I am loving the colorway, I’ve always been a fan of the Jordan 1.

The Citrus Jordan Retro 9′s were also part of the AIR drop! These are really fresh, I love these kicks, you can’t go wrong with an all black pair of Jordan 9′s. What I really like about these are the subtle hits of citrus orange and white, I can’t complain.

Thanks to P & Team Jordan for sending these over!

Marcus Troy How to get dress for a wedding

How to dress for a wedding? This past weekend my friend Teddy Points decided to tie the knot with his long time girlfriend and he invited me to his wedding. I’ve been to a few weddings in my day and I always found it fun to get dressed up and attend these glorious moments. In the past I would find myself dressing a bit more traditional, you know a suit and a tie. These days I am feeling a bit non-traditional, I still want to look sharp, clean and standout but I want to remain respectful to the bride & the groom in my attire.

I decided to wear a fitted blazer by Diesel, a slim fit dress suit shirt by Hugo Boss, lightweight dress pants by Uniqlo, a bow-tie, a Nautica watch and shoes by Vans OTW which looked amazing. I was inspired by a modern day James Bond. The Vans OTW’s really made the outfit stand out! The white bottoms, plaid upper and leather toe cap made it look very sexy and match my outfit perfectly. Oh I forgot to mention a spray of my Play Eau de Toilette by Givenchy (James Bond Cologne)

How To dress for a wedding a Marcus Troy guide ( 5 tips)

1. Always dress age appropriate.

I think it is always best to dress age appropriate, I don’t mean your age I mean the age of the bride and the groom. You’re going to want to dress differently if you’re attending a young adults wedding vs your parents friends wedding.

2. Ties vs Bow-ties

Traditionally people usually wear ties but you can switch it up and break tradition if you dare to. When dressing for a wedding you want to look as fresh as the groom but not too much. I prefer to see the groom in a bow tie I think it is a better look, why not get fresh as well and trow on a bow-tie. If you can get a real bow-tie it is even better! I always suggest that you wear some sort of tie, the guys who don’t wear ties really don’t look wedding appropriate.

3. Suits

Like I said earlier I usually wear suits but this time I wanted to switch it up and wear something different. I decided to wear some lightweight and light colored pants from UNIQLO. When paired up with the right outfit these pants look very dressy. You want to make sure you find the right pants! pairing it up with the blazer and shirt may be a little difficult. If you can have your pants pressed to get that seam down the front, you will look cleaner than a whistle.

4. Weather

You should always dress for the weather. If you’re going to wear a suit make sure it’s a lightweight or summer suit, you don’t want to be that guy sweating buckets stuck outside in the blazing sun in a wool suit.

5. Shoes

I’m pretty sure the question of what shoes has been a debate in some households for some time. I decided to wear sneakers which is a big no, no in some cases. Again you want to be respectful to the bride and the groom. The age of the bride and groom might play a role in your decision. The first time I saw someone wear sneakers to a wedding it was Will Smith in the show, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. It was so dope and rebellious that I swore to myself I would get married in sneakers. If you do decide to wear sneakers to a wedding don’t be surprised if you get the evil looks from the old folks! You have to make sure that the sneakers are not offensive with crazy colours or logos. You really want the sneakers to blend in well with your outfit.

I hope you enjoyed my guide on how to dress for a wedding!

Please share your thoughts and outfits of choice for weddings!

James Bond Cologne…

Last week a package from the LVMH group (Louis Vuitton • Moët Hennessy) was left for me with the concierge at the Fairmount Hotel and I finally got the chance to pick it up.

I received the Givenchy Play Intense and the Givenchy PI Eau de Toilette for men. I’m a huge fan of the Givenchy Play cologne, it happens to be my weapon of choice but this time I get to try out the Givenchy Pi which has been around since 1999.

If you guys are lucky I will be giving some of these away to a few readers! Stay tuned

I would love to hear your thoughts on cologne if you have any!

Thanks to my people over at LVMH for the love.

Last Thursday night we celebrated the release of the Sebago Nexus Project, the Marcus Troy x Ronnie Fieg selection. The party was super dope and a lot of friends, family & co-workers came out to support. It was really dope to see this all come together.

I decided to rock a Burberry shirt that I bought about 9 years ago, a vintage Members Only jacket I bought in LA about 5 years ago. I obviously wore the Buffalo Leather and red Sebago’s to match my outfit. That night I was inspired by vintage & luxury.

Thanks to everyone who came out!

Last week I received a package courtesy of Timberland & Team Epiphany and I was very impressed with the packaging and  the attention to detail. A small note said Welcome To Summer! It explained that I was selected as a member of their exclusive Tastemaker family which is quite the humbling. I love when brands and PR companies take the time to pay attention to every detail and focus on their packaging and branding. I believe Team Epiphany really sets the precedents with the way they handle a brands communication.

Included in this gift box was a Abington Duffel, The Abington Rugged Handsewn shoe and a Abington branded fleece blanket which happens to be perfect for picnics or keeping warm in the night.

These items are part of the Spring 2010 collection and can be found at Timberland.

Thank you to Team Epiphany & Timberland for the love.

This is a very proud moment for me! To be able to give you guys something that is tangible and filled with my DNA is such an incredible feeling. I never thought that blogging would take me this far, now I’m in the lime light cause I blog tight…Sorry I am getting distracted by B.I.G as I write this.

When Ronnie approached me about this project I had no clue it was going to be such an unbelievable experience. To finally be able to show you the finish product and to release pairs into the market place is such a great accomplishment.

Here you have 1 of 2 shoes that I put together, the Docksides in a “Buffalo” brown leather and red colorway. This colorway was inspired by my love for luxury and my aspirational tendencies. If you are lucky enough to get your hands on these Limited Edition Sebago Docksides, I want you to know that you are really getting a piece of me, my vision, my passion, my thoughts, my enthusiasm and love. I am looking forward to bringing you guys more products and ideas from the mind of Marcus Troy. I hope you love and enjoy them.

I am extremely humbled that I’ve been able to see this project come to fruition and that I am able to share it with you guys. Thank you for always supporting me, correcting me, challenging me and hating on me. It has all made me a better person and want to especially thank you for allowing me to share my journey.

I want to thank Ronnie Fieg, Tom Siano and Gary Malamet for the opportunity to tell a story trough product.

Thank you to Vincent Tsang for capturing my vision on camera.

The Nexus Project Team

I am very pleased to announce the Sebago Nexus Project presented by Ronnie Fieg.

The Dream Team-Nexus Project

I was a part of a great team who spent 5 days on the beautiful Island of the Dominican Republic. What we were able to accomplish was truly magical. We got our hands dirty with the magnificent Sebago team to produce a limited run of shoes dubbed The Sebago Nexus Project. The Nexus Project is presented by Ronnie Fieg who put together a team of 5 bloggers who he admires to help bring this idea to fruition. I had the pleasure of working with Ronnie Fieg, Joshua Kissi, William Yan, Greg Weinstein, Jake Davis  and the incredible DP Jim Larer.

I believe all the shoes came out incredible and I can’t wait to show you guys! I hope you guys like them as much as I do.

About the Sebago Nexus Project:

Ten shoe designs. Five bloggers. One never before seen, done, or even attempted collection. The Nexus Project breaks all the rules and redefines what collaboration means. Wanting to create a collection that not only steps it up but also stands out, Sebago® called on one of the most innovative thinkers in the footwear industry around. Ronnie Fieg. A footwear designer and Sebago enthusiast, Fieg in turn reached out to the fashion-forward blogosphere and recruited some of today’s hottest lifestyle bloggers. Greg Weinstein. William Yan. Joshua Kissi & Travis Gumbs. Marcus Troy. Jake Davis. Each serving up a different energy and perspective that’s given the Nexus Project more bang than the Internet has blogs. Led by Fieg, each blogger designed two shoes that represented their own style ethos. The only mandates? Use the best materials available and honor Sebago’s long-loved heritage of authentic craftsmanship. Given the shoemaker’s 60+ year legacy and tenacious dedication to handcrafted perfection, nothing less was acceptable. Thankfully, after visiting the Sebago factory for a hands-on crash course by master cobblers, it wasn’t hard to live up to the Sebago standard. The results? A collection that not only celebrates Sebago’s New England roots, but also underscores our commitment to bring innovative, nautically-inspired footwear to those who love style and value uncommon quality. All of which helps further the reputation of our time-honored traditions.
Handmade in limited quantities of just forty-eight pairs each, only 480 style seekers will ever enjoy what can very well be the finest collaborative collection we’ve ever produced. Authentic. Inspiring. Groundbreaking. Courtesy of Sebago, Ronnie Fieg, and some fiercely talented tastemakers.

Crossing the line

I would like for you guys to leave a comment and let me know what is the first couple of things that come to mind when you see this picture?

I’m thinking about doing this a couple times a week. I believe every picture can be left for interpretation and people always see things from a different point of view. I wasn’t sure if marcustroy.com was the right forum for this type of social study, but I thought it might be fun. I would love for you guys & girls to get involved and start sharing with others your thoughts on some of the pictures I put up. I want you guys to create your own headlines or post stories.

If this goes well I will be putting up a photo every Saturday at 11:00 am.

I know posting a comment sometimes is like getting to a club at 10:00 pm, you don’t want to be the first 1 there…I encourage you to try it out it could be fun.

What is my interpretation? This pictures makes me feel like we create the lines that we should not cross…Sometimes crossing the line is the only way we are going to see what is on the other side.

Your turn! Please leave a comment in the comment section.

Peace

Marcus Troy
