If you’ve been paying attention to my twitter over the past few weeks you would know that I’ve been hosting these inspirational, brand building conferences called THE MARCUS TROY EXPERIENCE with the Imeet platform. Every week I invite a special guest that I consider to be an authority on a given topic or industry to speak with my readers & followers. My past guests have been Kenji Summers, Jesse Jones, and Shane Stirling. I was also blessed to have Kiel Berry from Team Epiphany chime 1 week to give his very special insight.
What’s been great about this experience is that people from all walks of life have been tuning in to share, learn and participate.
Everyone starts off by introducing themselves to the group, and then I introduce my special guest and the topic of the night. After I speak my thoughts on the subject I pass the floor to my guest who then elaborates more on the subject and then it is open forum for questions. We try and share experiences, insight and knowledge that can help one another. The conversations last about 2 hours and I usually have people fighting to get into the room, which gets filled pretty quickly.
The guest that I have invited thus far have a fresh perspective that differs or align exactly with mine. I appreciate their insight and allow them to craft their ideas and thoughts to share with my readers. Everyone gets a chance to speak, ask questions and contribute to the conversation. It is such a magical experience to see people building in that manner.
Last night I hosted another great Imeet session in The Marcus Troy Experience room. People were camped out 45 min early to make sure they got into the room ok. I love you guys! Last night I invited professional jetsetter Johnica Reed as my special guest. We spoke and discussed about access & positioning and how those 2 things have been instrumental in our careers. Later on in the night the conversation switched gears to “ How to build great relationships and practice good business etiquette.
So many great things came out of our conversation last night but to summarize it for the people who did not make it in, here are some of the thoughts and ideas that resonated with us all.
1. Pay attention to the people who are paying attention to you.
2. Be prepared for when access or positions come your way
3. Be a person of integrity and follow up when you have to follow up
4. Put yourself in a position to have access
5. Get a true sense of what people think of you before you try to do business with them
6. Don’t wish for someone else’s life unless you truly understand who they are.
7. Ask and you shall receive
8. Hand written notes or heartfelt messages are the best touch. (Be honest)
9. Don’t fill your mind with useless information that cannot serve your purpose.
10. Learn TO CRACK THE CODE (secrets of life, not taught in school)
Thanks to everyone who participates week after week. A special E-CLAP for the future generation of leaders.
Stay tuned to find out the next #imeet
