Day 2 in New York was getting really interesting. After we left Madison Square Garden we headed to the top of The Renaissance hotel for lunch and to take in the view. The view from the hotel showed us exactly where the festivities for the World Basketball Festival is going to be held. After lunch we were told to go and get changed! We were about to go play some ball at the infamous Rucker Park in Harlem New York. We had to sign some safety waivers and then we were good to go. They had duffel bags prepared for everyone with our names on it. Inside these duffels were ball shorts, kicks, t-shirts, underwear, socks, cinch bags and a few more goodies.
Laced up my kicks and we were ready for ball.
This was such a fun day! Shout out to Jay from BKRW who balls for real! His team actually won the tournament. Shout out to Matt from Nice Kicks, Gotty from Smoking Section, Nick from Hard Knock TV, Aron Phillips from Dime Magazine, Nick from Slam X hype, Nick from Highsnobiety, The ladies from Status magazine, Gary from Crooked Tongues and Nick from Sole Collector.
Rucker Park is a basketball court in the New York City borough of Manhattan, located at 155th Street and Frederick Douglass Boulevard across the road from the Polo Grounds site, in the Harlem neighborhood.[1][2] Many people who played at the park achieved a level of fame for their basketball abilities, and several have gone on to play in the NBA.
Rucker was featured in the film Gunnin’ For That #1 Spot. See the official website at http://www.ebcsports.com/.
Rucker also known as EBC was also the filming site for the AND1 mix tape series until the more recent tapings at Quaker Ridge School in Larchmont, NY featuring the Quaker Ridge Posse.
