Fall is my favorite fashion season even though it always rains and snows. I believe layering allows you to be a bit more flexible with your wardrobe which makes it fun.
This morning I woke up with the idea of putting together a small “Fall Guide” for when it rains in the fall. I picked up a few great pieces at the Polo store last week and I figured they would be perfect for this post. I think I found some pretty interesting things from POLO that I wanted to share them with you guys. Since fall is right around the corner what a perfect time to bring you “How to dress for rain drops in the fall by Marcus Troy”
I listed my few key items below.
1. Flannel shirt
Why? It’s soft and lightweight so you don’t feel bundled up when you are wearing a jacket over it.
What? This is a Polo Ralph Lauren Equestrian shirt with suede elbow patches, its all about elbow patches this fall. I like the fall color palette of this piece, it reminds me of the Canadian Forest. The breast pockets are cool, 1 pocket is a flap and the other has a sueded pen holder. The shirt is a bit long so it is perfect for tucking into trousers or jeans.

2. Rain Coat
Why? You don’t want to get caught in the rain or even a drizzle without a coat.
What? I got this rain coat last year as a present. It is also a Polo coat and I think it is really fresh. I wish it was Gore-Tex but I guess I can’t have everything in life. I like this coat because it is lined with flannel and has great subtle details like leather cuffs, corduroy collar, leather neck liner and corduroy pocket liners. It’s a midweight nylon jacket with a removable hood so it is perfect for the rain.

3. Rain Boots
Why? Ok I know a lot of guys won’t ever wear rain boots, but I think you have to be a bit more confident. Rain boots are functional and you have to look at them as such. Who wants to be walking around with wet sneakers? Of course there are alternatives to rain boots, but why not be different and push your style a bit. You can even roll them down like I did.
What? These are Le Chameau rain boots which are a bit more expensive than your average pair, but the quality is unmatched. Another reason why I like these boots is because of the shape, I don’t think they look feminine which is very cool.

4. Denim
Why? This might sound crazy but I don’t mind wearing denim when it is raining… You can hardly tell when they are soaking wet! ha! I mean people won’t be able to tell when they are soaking wet. I’ve experienced my denim being so raw that when it rained I had no clue my jeans were wet.
What? I want to start off by saying that these Ralph Lauren Vintage 67 patchwork jeans are not for everyone! I saw these at the shop and I had to get them. Sure these look a little a pair of “poor little hobo jeans” but I think that was the major appeal. for me It looks like I did these up myself which is another reason why I like them. The handmade touch is such a great sentiment…Each pair is made differently with every patch in odd place, again not for everyone. My plan is to wear the ish out of these jeans until they really fall apart.
