The second generation of the SRX crossover was one of Cadillac’s best selling vehicles, and for 2017 it has been revamped with the all-new XT5. The latest version will come with innovations like an award-winning rear-view mirror that streams a live video about four times larger image than a conventional mirror. Which means driving in reserve will be easier than ever. There is also fuel saving tech like automatic stop-start and cylinder deactivation with an available front-wheel and all-wheel drive options. To add to its efficiency, an 8-speed automatic with electronic shifter instead of a hydraulic component. In terms of engine specs, North American models will be equipped with a naturally aspirated 3.6-liter V6 that produces a satisfying 310 hp with 271 lb·ft of torque.

We first laid our eyes on the XT5 in Dubai, which was revealed alongside Public School’s Pre-Fall 2015 collection. A few months later we travelled to the East Coast of Canada to Fogo Island in Newfoundland to experience the vehicle for ourselves. The island lies just a few kilometres offshore and it’s accessible by sea and, if weather permits, by air. It was early in the morning when we were to depart for Fogo and a thick layer of fog blanketed the island. This forced us to reroute to Gander where we boarded a ferry that would carry us to across the Atlantic. To get to the our accommodations, we exited the ferry in Cadillac’s XT5 and that’s where our drive began.
