Trends: Timberland Construction Boots?

I was extremely happy to see Lil Wayne wearing Timberland construction boots last night at the BET Awards. It brought back memories of nostalgia from my younger days. Do you guys remember when everyone and their mothers wore “Timbos”? What made his choice of footwear interesting is that no one really wears Construction Timbo’s like they used too. For Wayne to choose such a nostalgic item might speak volumes on his taste level. It is always surprising to see a “rapper” wear something out of “today’s ordinary” I think it makes quite the statement. This morning I also came across Kanye on the red Carpet rocking Timberland’s (which isn’t surprising), I think these 2 guys just boosted the stock prices of Timberland this morning. Could the Timberland Construction boots be making a comeback? We all know the heavy influence of work wear apparel in fashion at the moment. I wouldn’t be surprise to see a resurgence in the construction boot look, but this time I think it would be worn in much cleaner and more fashionable aesthetic.

I think I still got a fresh pair on ice somewhere.

Your thoughts?

The only people who feel Timbs are out are people who are trying to go for the preppy/skinny jean look. I honestly think people are blinded, they’re all try to be fashion forward but everybody is doing the same thing. “Trends” are what make fashion boring for me. Everyone in soho looks the same to me only some wear it better than others. IMO

Bryan » Great point! Right now people are used to seeing one thing and when they see something else it confuses them. Trends are keeping everyone looking the same. That’s why it is cool to see people do the opposite.

I want to clarify what this post means. There aren’t may people who still go out and buy crispy, brand new wheat timbs every year like clock work. Yes we all wore timbs and have several pairs in our closets but no one is rocking them like we used too. Do you remember when everyone had to have a brand new pair of timbs in wheat? Those days are gone, you can ask Timberland…their sales have slow down in the wheat timbs. Kanye and Ye might bring back the Crispy new timb look. That is all I am saying… please continue commenting I love this.

Why does it have to take Kanye or Wayne to rock timbs to bring back the crispy new timb look? I rocked timbs all winter long and pulled it off very nicely. Timbs are classic that will never go outta style.

Not sure if you noticed but they are rocking them now! not winter….I am not talking about rocking timbs as a functional piece for the winter. I am talking about wearing timbs all year long how people used too. I’m I alone in this planet? YOu guys really don’t know what I am talking about? I am not saying timbs are out of style, they have been replaced by other brands and looks.

    me personally..
    i own a crispy pair or 2.
but i find them harder to rock these days
with my wardrobe. i mean one winter day.
i pulled them out with a pair of levi organic 511’s
it didn’t look bad. i think im over them tho.
i’ve been wearing for years upon years.
even if kanye or wayne makes them hot again.
i’ll pass, im kinda over them

6″ wheat Timbos are out of style?! I guess I should check my email on my Blackberry with the side scroll more often…Didn’t get the memo…

On a serious note, Timbs are like All white Ones…Timeless…

Now if you tell me Jean suits are back (remember those?), then ok I’ll be surprised.

Construction Timbs have made a comeback in Harlem during the last 18 months. The Harlem uniform is Nautica top, cargo pants and Construction timbs or Nike R4 shoxs. The resurgence of cargos (Jetlag, Polo etc.) has led to Timberland’s comeback in Harlem. Next time you are uptown check out Goliath, Jans and Vault to see the best variety of cargos.

Then I jus watched Chatty Man(UK comedian Alan Carr’s chat show). Kanye was a guest n came on wit a pair of fresh blacks. Im like no way..timbs ARE makin a comeback. So i go on google n type in “timberland boots making a comeback” which leads me here. Great blog dude lol.

hey i just came upon the blog and its great…What Kanye and Lil Wayne seems to be wearing are the new “Scuff Proof” timberland boots, The blacks that Kanye wore at a performance came out last october and the Wheat should be in stores in october(Which provide some explanation for those who don’t want to wear anything outdated)…These boots are really difficult to scuff if not impossible. I will be working on a marketing project for the VILLA a sneaker/apparel/accessories with stores in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Ohio and New Jersey and we have samples of the wheat boot and have ran tests on them. The leather is specially treated which makes them difficult to scuff.

I think lil wayne wore them because he wanted to see if everybody would follow him, just like he did with biker chains, vnecks, and now skinny jeans.

I think Kanye is wearing (I say wearing but it looks as he is going to continually do so) timbs to add to his style of being different and at the same time start a trend.

It seems as though rappers are wearing anything to be tastemakers instead of actually wearing the clothes they want to wear.

The problem here, is that just because somebody of celebrity status does it, in NO WAY makes it a good look… People THINK!

I am waiting for the day when the NEXT HUGE Star on the horizon takes the world by storm with his pockets pulled out, and a pair of gingham boxers on his head!

You people will think that Jesus, Or Buddha is stomping around with you in combat boots, with his pockets out and drawers on his head!
