Sony introduces Walkman ZX2 @Sony
When one spots word “Walkman” in this post, nostalgia kicks in and depending on your generation, you’ll remember having to carry around a case of our favourite cassettes tapes, CDs, or both!
Sony brings back their iconic Walkman with the announcement of the NW-ZX2. It is a device that is meant for the strictest of audiophiles as it plays Hi-Res audio files.
Sony’s S-Master HX full digital amplifier keeps audio signal processing entirely in the digital domain to support pristine playback of Hi-Res sound. This advanced technology accurately processes massive amounts of wide-bandwidth audio data while minimising noise and distortion.
Powerful DSEE HX processing recreates crucial high-frequency musical information that’s lost in compressed sound files. CD and MP3 sources are upscaled, expanding sampling frequency and bit-depth beyond their original values to near Hi-Res quality (corresponding to 192 kHz/24-bit audio).
Another great feature is the Dual-band (2.4/5 GHz) Wi-Fi compatibility, which lets you enjoy Hi-Res music stored on your DLNA home network.
Notable features:
- Superb Hi-Res sound from Walkman with S-Master HX and DSEE HX
- Upgraded signal path and power supply stages with premium components
- LDAC for high quality wireless listening via Bluetooth
- Long 60hr battery life (For MP3)
- 128GB (expandable to 256GB) capacity to store your Hi-Res music collection
- Luxurious design with body sculpted from solid aluminium
We would love to experience this device firsthand!
Sony has slated the ZX2 for a European release in the Spring of 2015.
