    The great folks over at Sneaker Freaker Magazine, Woody & Mafia compiled a Best of the Best 2010 sneaker list with some of the worlds influencers. I am honored and humbled to be part of such a great group of people. Check out my story below.

    I choose the Jordan 6’s as the best sneaker release of 2010.

    In 1990 I got my first pair of Jordans: the V. That’s exactly when I fell in love with Jordans. I remember it like it was yesterday. Once the Jordan VI came out things weren’t so great financially in my household so I couldn’t get them.

    I was so bummed and heartbroken that I went down to my local basketball court to shoot hoops with some friends of mine. Then out of nowhere a 6’3” brother from the apartment buildings appeared bouncing a ball with a brand new pair of Jordan VIs on. The whole court went silent and the leaves on the trees stopped moving as he showed up at the free throw line. He had on the freshest pair of Jordans that anyone had ever seen in their lives and he was balling in them! A few hearts were broken that day as Tobias Gray cleaned off his kicks after every basket. I don’t think we knew what ‘hating’ was at the time but boy we were envious of him. We would have traded in our mothers to get those kicks!

    Now I’m blessed to have the privileges and the access to get my hands on most of the things I fancied as a kid, so earlier this year I got the best of both worlds when both colours of the VI were released in a double pack – the black and the white. If all my friends from those days could only see my collection now… Even though these are retros it still brings back great feelings of nostalgia!

    These are by far my favorite sneaker release of 2010.
