The first in line at New York Fashion Week: Men’s was Perry Ellis and Creative Director, Michael Maccari. Their presentation of their Spring 2017 collection was held on the 19th floor of the Hippodrome Building, and it was there where we saw a play between past and future. The past being the dusty pastel colours matched with botanical print, the future was shown in the technical track suits made with neoprene, along with the nylon and mesh track jackets. He likened his choice of mixing patterns and fabrics to a collage. Maccari is now two years in into his role as the brand’s creative director and while he is injecting a new aesthetic, also he still respects the sportswear legacy of the Perry Ellis.
