My Life: Grown Man Watch
March 26th, 2009I was told when you reach a certain age you have to invest into a grown man’s watch! Some people say that age is 30 some even say that age is 35. By a grown man’s watch I don’t mean a Jacob, a techno marine or a G-Shock with Ice, I mean a man’s watch with no bling, no diamonds just quality and a great movement. Brands like Audemars Piguet, Panerai and Rolex are some of the brands you might want to look into. The price of some of these watches may start at $6000 but it’s a watch you that you will have forever and you will get respect from the fellow members of the grown man watch club!

so do you wear the grown man watch everyday or for special occasions?
I guess it becomes your everyday watch!
I always thought they would make good graduation presents

Marcus,
I recall us having a similar conversation about watches. I recently got myself a SS Subdate and have not taken it off my wrist since the day I got it (Actually 1nce for about 6 hours when I wore my Panerai Luminor Destro). I suggest you get a watch that suits your lifestyle. A nice dive watch that’s versatile can be worn with sneakers/tee, suit/tie, sweater/khakis. You get the picture. In most cases, you definitely get what you pay for when it comes to watches.
Looking forward to our next conversation about watches.
Does it tell time without blinding you, is it a conservative color? If it meets those standards its a grown man watch. My Suunto Core Multifunction and Luminox 200M Dive watch are as grown man as they get. Both go well with a suit on The Hill, with cargo pants in Joshua Tree, and Board Shorts on Lake Austin.
