MY Life: Ghost Blogger: For the right price I can make your blog tighter

I am coining the phrase “GHOST BLOGGER” for those of you who have no idea where this term derives from I’ll explain. In the rap game if you don’t write your own lyrics (like Diddy) you hire a “Ghost Writer” to do your penmanship for you. (sidenote: most people don’t respect those who don’t write their own lyrics.) The reason why they say “ghost” is because this persons identity is usual kept private and you can use their material and past it off as your own and the real writer essentially remains a ghost( unless they get mad, and call you out). So the game is changing and now blogging is the new way of communicating your ideas, thoughts and beliefs besides the music. Artist like Kanye and Pharell just to name a few have their own blogs which people follow insanely you can tell by the user comments. But do they write their own blogs? Or are their blogs just inspired by them and what they might say? If you’ve read my tag line it goes as follows: “Blogging aint easy but somebody’s got to do it” This shit is a full time job at times, keeping people updated on all types of stuff. So many people start blogs and update for like 3 months and fall off the face of the earth. There are countless of blogs in my rss reader that never get updated (shame on you guys) cause this is time consuming. I know I’m a busy guy and I still find time to get my blog work in. How the Hell does Kanye have time to update his blog with 10 new post a day? while touring, making beats, sexing, looking at porn, shopping, creating vodka commercials, attending fashion shows and whatever else a dude of his caliber is doing? The only way I see it happening is with a “Ghost Blogger”. I know by some of his post it seems like he is the one finding all the cool stuff and writing all those post, But we don’t believe you, you need more people. My other pet peeve about my “speculated ghost bloggers” and some bloggers in general, is that they don’t credit the sites where they get their information from. I am starting the blogfirm! You can post info 4 times a month without giving credit, but after that your getting blacklisted! Ok ,so I don’t really have any power to do this, but you get my point.

I still would not mind seeing a Jay-z ghost blog?! It would be kind of cool but you know…

“I have never been on myspace, too busy carving out MY space”

Shout out to all the real bloggers putting in work everyday to keep us all entertained.

Shout out to all the “Ghost bloggers” for putting in work for others and getting silly paid! (just make sure you give us credit when it’s due)

If I only knew I could get paid to blog for somebody else…

PS: For the right price, I can make your blog tighter.

Ghost blogger for hire.

PS: If anyone uses the term ghost blogger they heard it from me first!

Church, Preach, Tabernacle…You said it all. Long live good blogs. I do too get busy but press on.

    Props

  4. nation July 15th, 2008 6:28 pm

so which one is it? people who will update these celebrities’ blogs for them because those fans who visit might as well have something to look at

or is it the douchebags who leech off of people with premium content, without citing their sources and having the courtesy to link back

I don’t think Ye & P have ghost bloggers, because they don’t claim it’s always them. both Cipha Sounds & Mick Boogie have other people who post shit on their blogs who happen to get a lot of traffic. Kanye can be busy but need his new Vodka ad up by 8 pm for the shit to go viral, so it’s not that clean cut always. I doubt Pharrell sits down and uploads his new BBC clothing line everytime as well. Just Blaze is very hands on though, but it doesn’t seem that important if their assistant takes the liberty of posting shit the publicist needs up. on the other hand, people who can be classified in your second definition need to be stoned on the white house lawn

    peace Marcus

I read Sandra’s post before reading yours and I was seriously about to jump out of a window! I am such a blog whore and Ye’s blog is my favorite (I wish Lupe updated more!) - to know someone else was blogging for him would be such heartbreaking!! If you are indeed his ghost writer I PRAY u never say so! I hope this doesnt force “the real” ghost writer to come to light to take claim over what others think you may be doing because of Sandra!

I do however love ur blog and will adding it to the collection, lol…=) - CaT

now i feel like a sucka! i know celebs dont have time to sit down all day and write on their blogs, but that is what the iphone and all those gadgets are for. blah. it’s really like findin out a rapper doesn’t write their own rhymes. or a singer who can’t sing AT ALL, and all she/he does is lip sync. what the fuck?

  16. Eighty's Baby July 16th, 2008 2:43 pm

Aw, shit you know you done started some shit with this Marcus. Now ye is all peeved and ready to break his Mac Book air.

all the labels are hiring bloggers to run their artist and destination sites, for the very reason that they don’t have enough time to do it yourself. a lot of times the blogs come from the artists but the employees do the work, often its just the label employees posting.

I don’t care if these artists have a gold macbook air attached to their hip, there is no way they have time to post as many blogs as Kanye claims to.

  19. pnf July 16th, 2008 5:16 pm

I’ve questioned kanyes blogging frequency myself, unless dude really has nothing to do all day except one show a night. the bbc/ice cream blog is done by the dude that runs the day to day at ice cream, not pharrell.

  20. JR July 16th, 2008 5:32 pm

I been thinking the samething, Kanye’s blog is very quick, to quick for a one man show.
BBC blog is a definite ghost written site, they don’t try to hide it, its usually always written in third person.
(I see no problem with it, if the blogger is either with the personalities all the time and just transcribing or if Kanye just bookmark the links with del.icio.us and adds some notes and the ghost blogger dictates for Kanye, see nothing wrong, thats just efficient.)

Quality is an issue, Kanye finds real quality stuff, but the low res images and the lack of Links back to the original source or other sites makes the posts extremely disposable and loses interconnect between sites, which is what the internet is all about.

Recently an article on my site exploded with a huge number of hits. With lots of linkback as the source, but I happen to cross by a site that copy paste my text word for word and zero credit was given to my site. Seriously I feel you on the blacklisting, lol.

The “blogfirm” is a great idea. It seems only fitting to give credit where it’s due…especially with the amount of time and research, one must do to remain “FRESH”. You don’t have to say it, but I hear you…hitting the print screen button is waYE’ easier, than shouting someone out. LOLz, thanks for putting the comment back up. PEACE PEACE

Marcus… Welcome to the game of ghost blogging.

I’m working hard at making this gig a legitimate profession, because there are too many public figures out there who understand the value of having, what I call, a “Virtual Biography,” yet they don’t have the time or the know-how to produce one themselves. That’s when people like you and I come in to save the day.

Is Kanye really writing ten posts a day? Yes, according to Kanye….

  32. […] Everybody get ready to gag on this shit here! So, the ever impressive blogger, Marcus Troy, did a post the other day on a term he has coined called, “ghost blogging” — think “ghost writing”, but with blogs. It was a great read. […]

You bring up a great point. I love Kanye’s blog… never thought of that though. I’ll be sure to consider that next time I read!

  39. NY State of Mind July 18th, 2008 10:52 pm

Bloggers in the most part read the blogs nowadays by the people that are supporting as artist. How can you have faith and belief in people for the most part steal to make their living? Kanye is really official if your into samples of old school sh!t. Tell me how do u expect him to start keeping it a 100 when he really believe he’s being truthful (delusional)? His Blog are original as his tracks. Why are u getting upset about his consistency? In NY we say,”SH!T Sound Good” but like Marcus Troy said I don’t believe you u need more people. Feel Me?

  40. One more thing, man… I hate to break it to you, but you are NOT the first person to use the term “ghost blogger.” You’re actually kinda late to the ghost bloggin’ party. Again, I’m not trying to start anything, I just wanna make sure you realize this before other people start calling you out on it.
