My Life: Back from Las Vegas!
Last week was the Magic Trade Show in Las Vegas Nevada. The show happens twice a year and caters to people all around the world in the fashion business. Packing for Vegas is such a drag because you never really know what the weather is going to be like and you never know what shoes to bring. (at least that’s my problem) I take a few steps before I pack for Vegas, I take out the clothes and the shoes I like for the moment and then I start by process of elimination. I also know my essentials and then I narrow it down from there. This post is obviously happening after the fact but I documented some of the things I thought about bringing to Nevada. I also made a video that should be up soon.
1. I first decide what bag I’m going to bring to carry my laptop. I wanted to choose between my Visvim bag pictured above and the Nike Sb backpack that both have great laptop sleeves.
2. The gadgetery and connectivity devices such as phones, blackberry’s and chargers, laptops and camera’s
3. Footwear is the tricky part because you know everyone is going to be at their freshest and flyest so you want to pick shoes that are comfotable, stylish and sets you apart from the hype monsters. I decided to choose from the boxes I did not get a chance to put away yet. I used to roll to vegas with 5 pairs for a 3 day trip this time I only rolled with 1 pair believe it or not.
If it gets sunny you might need a hat, so I picked from 1 of my favorites.
You might just want to wear tee’s so I decided to pick from a few new ones.
Was not sure if I should wear cords or denim or twill.
You need to bring woven shirts because you never know what Club you might end up in and they always stress the shirt rule.
You never really know the weather, so you might need to bring a jacket…I decided to bring a black leather jacket that I could wear to the club and walk around the show and not be too cold or too warm.
All these clothing items have to fit into 1 duffel bag. I was not sure if I should bring the Bruxe luggage or my Canterbury duffel.
You can’t forget to pack your essentials: toothbrush, cologne, deodorant, hair brush (if needed) lotion, dental floss and Q-tips.
You also might want to bring shades for the sunshine, I was not sure what mood I was in so I settled for good ole Oakleys.
Other crucial essentials are Vitamins, you don’t want to get sick from staying up all night and drinking alcohol and your immune system shutting down. You should also pack some Tylenol or flu medicine! Giving pounds and shaking hands all day you are bound to get a cold. Also bring some protection for the whatever happens in Vegas stories.
ID is so important and business cards especially because you will be meeting a ton of people and you want them to remember you. Plus they card everyone even if you look as old Mick Jagger!
You need to bring cash for all the damn cabs and tips. You almost have to tip everyone in Vegas, even the guy who opens the pipe for you in the bathroom. (bring small bills)
The last thing I put on is a watch. I was not sure what watch to bring so I layed out afew of my favorites, but when I travel I like to go digital.
*After all of this, I ended up bringing 1 pair of Gucci kicks, 1 pair of black Levis denim, 4 black thirsts, 1 cashmere Rugby, 1 woven shirt and my small Canterbury duffel bag. I got stopped at customs for bringing too little for a 4 day trip!
