Coolhunts: MB&F Horological Machine NO5RT @crestandco
From the outside, the HM5 “On the Road Again” from MB&F looks too ahead of its time, to others it looks rather simple. Little do they know that it is much more complicated.
The time is displayed looking straightforward but in actuality, they are bi-directional jumping hours with the indications inversed. They are reflected vertically at a 90-degree angle and magnified 20%.
The case design of the piece appears to be futuristic but its design was conceived in the 1970s. The HM5 features a mechanical movement but it was inspired by the quartz era. The rear louvres on the watch actually let light in, instead of blocking it like they do on sport cars. Finally, the exhaust pipes on drain water when taken out of submersion.
