"There is a Jay-Z lyric for everything"

Cinq à Six by CBC Radio 1 Montreal is a weekly, music-centric radio show that invites notable individuals in Quebec to chat about the songs and albums that have inspired, uplifted and guided them throughout their lives.

Marcus Troy and Naskademini visited their studio to chat about how music has played a huge influence on their lives and success. For the two, music has always been present in their lives and it was their father, who worked in the industry, that was responsible for making that connection. Marcus notes that his favourite artist is Jay-Z and says “There is a Jay-Z lyric for everything.” He also cites music videos and the way that his favourite hip-hop artists dressed in them that sparked his interest to pursue a career in fashion. For Naskademini, the emphasis was always on the visuals and the imagery that music would paint for him. He carefully analyzed the cover art and its relationship to the music. These observations have driven his creativity and continue to influence his photography today.

Listen to the in-depth in full below and be sure to tune into CBC Radio 1 Montreal as they continue to highlight new individuals every Saturday.
