Looks: Kent & Curwen Autumn/Winter 2014 Collection @KENTANDCURWEN
Established by Eric Kent and Dorothy Curwen as the original supplier of neckwear to Britain’s regiments and elite universities and clubs, Kent and Curwen has been outfitting gentlemen with its bold and colourful designs since 1926. Here are some of our favourite looks from their Autumn/Winter 2014 Collection.
Recently appointed Creative Director Simon Spurr makes his debut with the handsome Autumn/Winter 2014 collection. The collection re-establishes the British Heritage synonymous with Kent and Curwen, whilst showcasing a bold new aesthetic; modernizing the full lifestyle wardrobe.
Fittingly, inspired by British naval dress uniform, double faced, melton peacoats are cut close to the body and trimmed with lion head crested metal buttons and leather epaulettes. Rich wool and cashmere Officer’s coats are luxuriously trimmed with rabbit fur at the lapel.
The brands new philosophy begins with the reinterpretation and juxtaposition of iconic pieces: Motorcycle jackets, channel quilted at the lapel, are paired with tuxedo trousers and set again exploded fairisle jumpers, whilst Duffle coats are updated with Aran sleeves, and reversible cricket sweaters are offered in a range of tasteful colours.
Further, an extensive range of accessories has been introduced including hand luggage, portfolio cases, iPad cases, wallets, belts, driving gloves, ties, hats and scarves. Small signature accents such as handcrafted leather rose lapel pins, lion head lapel studs and splice shaped tie bars add multi layered styling elements to the collection, whilst referring back to the brand heritage
With over 17 years of menswear designer experience, Spurr has worked at Yves Saint Laurent, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger, before launching his namesake brand SIMON SPURR in 2006.
