Diesel’s Pre-Fall 2016 collection was inspired by the city of New York and the hues that are created during the night time. The brand’s Black Gold line presents a somber and industrial aesthetic but with flashes of light that is seen through the clothing’s white and metallic detailing. Textures play a large role in creating the attitude that creative director Andreas Melbostad aims to set. You’ll notice black and navy leather against dark wool, nylon, and cotton. Some pieces fit sharply, while others loose to create androgynous shapes.
Functionality is emphasized with detachable pieces like collars and hoods, along with zippers that free up movement. The oversized outwear includes leather biker jackets, short coats, and quilted bombers, which paired with elongated knits and the line’s signature Type-2614 jeans.
