One of the openers of New York Men’s Fashion Week was David Hart with his Fall/Winter 2016 collection, which was inspired by his father, who is a jazz musician, as well as the musical photography of Francis Wolff and album covers designed by Reid Miles.

The result was an assortment of knits in varying colours and patterns, all of which played well to the aesthetic of the budding jazz era. The standouts included plaid blazers, cropped trousers, leather bombers and suede denim jackets. To add more to the theme, several models walked with instruments in hand, while other lounged about in a old fashioned deli setting. Before we forget to mention, there are also a few well-tailored suits and tuxedos lurking about.

What is great about Hart’s collection is that while he continually makes references to the past, the modernity is never lost in his designs.
