Gadgets: HP’s Newest Generation of Laptops @HP
HP gave us the opportunity to preview their new generation of laptops and notebooks. Each come with a myriad of features and industry-first innovations.
The Chromebook 14 is the world’s first Chromebook built using the Haswell Microarchitecture Processor, which improves battery life and overall performance. The large 14-inch screen offers an 1366 x 768 resolution BrightView display with HDMI connectivity. It features 2 gigs of ram, a 16 gig hard drive, it is coupled with a SD memory card slot for additional memory. It also boasts a long battery life of 9.5 hours.
The Chromebook’s Google Chrome OS is best suited for an individual who spends most of their time browsing the internet. It comes integrated with Wi-Fi and certain models will offer 4G mobile broadband capabilities. The Chromebook is a light 3.8 pounds and colourful options are available for the chassis.

The HP Spectre 13 X2 is the perfect marriage of a notebook and a tablet. The HD 13-inch detachable screen allows for functionality and convenience. The device is noiseless thanks to it’s innovative fan-less design. A battery in both the tablet and keyboard allow for a boost in battery life when connected together. It’s internal hard drive is available in 64 or 128 gigabytes, the tablet also houses a Micro SD card slot if additional memory is required. It is also equipped with Beats audio speakers which provide solid sound quality. Like the Chromebook 14, the spectre houses the Haswell processor that allows for efficient battery life.

The slim HP Spectre 13 Ultrabook‘s aluminum body is beautifully crafted. The laptop is powered by a fast Intel Core i5 processor. The screen is an HP Vivid HD Touchscreen that the user can interact with using simple swipes and taps. It also features a delicately lit keyboard and HP’s wide Control Zone track pad extends to the left and to the right, which enhances the Windows 8 experience by easing the use of the OS’s Charms, flip and snap. An HDMI port, as well as two USB 3.0 slots and an SD card slot come standard on this laptop.
