  • Fred Perry Blank Canvas Re-Issue 1934 Collection @Fredperry

Fred Perry X Footpatrol Fred Perry X Hanon Shoe Fred Perry X Oi polloi In 1934 Fred Perry took home his first of 3 consecutive Wimbledon tennis titles and this years’ tournament marks the 80th anniversary of his accomplishment. To commemorate this historic event, Fred Perry has globally collaborated with 5 independent retailers, Bodega, Hanon, Oi Polloi, Foot Patrol and Firmament, to create a unique customization of the 1934 tennis shoe.

Above are our 3 favourite renditions of the iconic shoe:

Oi Polloi – Based in Manchester (Fred Perry’s hometown) was a natural choice and is recognized for creating quality goods. Oi Polloi gave the re-issued tennis shoe a clean fifties treatment with a light ecru canvas upper and matching terry-toweling collar. Stitch and eyelet details are kept tonal. The original 1950s sportswear badge was chosen for the sock with the green matched for the heel tab print.

Foot Patrol – London’s best known sneaker store are known for stocking footwear from the well-known and discovering the new, limited and sought after pieces. They swap the classic white canvas upper to black suede, as a nod to Fred Perry being the black sheep of the tennis world. The finer details of the shoe are kept tonal, including a 3M panel at the tongue and fold-up heel tab. Finishing touches include an optic yellow colour insock printed with a “Not the Greatest, the Best” and a Foot Patrol woven tab on the tongue.

Hanon – A popular sneaker and streetwear shop in Aberdeen has also a large online following, it is best known for their footwear exclusives, stocking hard to find editions and emerging streetwear brands. The shop has an appreciation for the scooter scene and its place in Subculture heritage. Their shoe takes inspiration from the iconic Lambretta GP scooter. The ‘GP yellow’ suede upper is offset by black trims and a white outsole. Racing stripe “twin tipping” is printed on the calfskin foot bed. The back tab is dual branded and the tongue finished with a bespoke Hanon patch.

The shoes are exclusively available online at each retailer and at Fred Perry.
