Footwear: The Filson and Sebago Story
The Filson & Sebago story
You guys are well familiar with my history with Sebago and I’ve expressed how much I am a fan of their product. Earlier this week I shared with you the Sebago x Filson Collaboration, this time I wanted to go more in depth with the story as told to me by my friends at Sebago.
There will be 3 different heights all avail in 2 color ways. The dark oiled leathers and the kaki tan Filson signature colorway. Retails will be $180, $185 and $205. The collection will launch in August 2011 at only the finest retailers.
All 3 patterns have a midsole construction, which means an upper that is a mocassin. A mid sole is then stitched in 360 degree and a outsole is glued on. The outer sole is a Vibram yellow label mini lug. They kept the profile in a low format, nothing huge and chunky. They wanted to make a gentleman’s lug with enough edge to brave all elements. The midsole inside is a fill length of EVA, the same as what is found in the most running shoes. For the details like the laces they used genuine rawhide. Each pair is hand crafted by hand in the Dominican Republic. One at a time! I showed you guys on many different occasions how amazing and skilled those craftsmen are.
All thread in the stitching is waterproof Nylon, 2 rows of stitching..all in a lock stitch format. This ensures strength and durability. If a loop is cut, don’t worry the rest of the thread is lock stitched. No unraveling!
The Filson cloth feature is their signature Filson tin cloth. It is a waxed canvas, super durable and waterproof.
I really can’t wait to get my hands on these.
