Clothing: Williamsburg Garment Company -Grand St Denim
I love walking tradeshows, you get to discover new brands and meet interesting people and designers. While I was roaming through the PROJECT tradeshow a few weeks ago, I stumbled upon The Williamsburg Garment Company by fame designer Maurice Malone. If you don’t know who Maurice Malone is, he was one the leaders of the urban clothing revolution back in the days. I remember him having some of the best ads in the Source Magazine & Vibe. He inspired designer and people all around the world to start clothing brands in the early 90s.
I think in his prime he grew his company to a multi million dollars business, which is pretty cool for a kid from Detroit. After a few years of hiatus Mr. Malone is back on the scene with a new company called the Williamsburg Garment Company which produces pieces for the contemporary fashion market. He gifted me a pair of these Grand St Denims that I have been wearing almost everyday for the past 2 weeks. Each pair is named after a street in New York and they come in 3 different fits. I’m wearing the Grand St. slim fit. I like the fact these have no branding on them, clean, great shape and comfortable. The only hit of branding is the W on the back. WGC is also working on a made in the USA collection which should be available soon.
If you want to check out a pair you can find the ones I am wearing here.
