Watch Dogs 2 is a open-world action adventure video game that is a sequel the original 2014 release. It follows Marcus Holloway, a hacker who works with the hacking group, DedSec, who aims to take down ctOS 2.0, an advanced surveillance system in a fictional San Fransisco. What we appreciate about the Watch Dog series is that it’s a smart video game tackles themes that affect us today. For example, the limits of our privacy on the Internet, and our how our information is being shared and collected. The creative studio behind the game, Ubisoft, has worked with VICE to highlight the many ways our data is being used to profile and exploit us. In the second episode, VICE finds shows us how easily we often give up our information and we learn from a cybersecurity professional on how to keep our data secure.
Fans who wish to further immerse themselves in Ubisoft’s Canadian WATCH_DOGS 2 campaign are invited to visit dedsec.haumcanada.com. Once there, join the thousands of participants of the Dedsec Canada Hub in weekly missions and activities, with a chance to win a variety of prizes, including a Sony PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, a Gold Edition of WATCH_DOGS 2 and a Ubi Workshop prize pack.
