"It has been over three decades since the original Anti-Gravity Machines forever changed footwear. Pure, minimal and raw, the new Air Jordan XXXI is a reflection of the original"

We are from a place where having style is just as important as having skills. If you grew up during the Michael Jordan era, you knew how iconic of a figure he was but you also recognized just how much juice rocking his sneakers gave you. This was especially true with the Air Jordan 1, which was his first signature sneaker with Nike. It quickly rose to mysticality due to its banning by the NBA because it didn’t conform to the dress code of the time. As a result, the league fined Jordan $5000 every time he wore them. We were all aware of that story of course, but to us it represented something more. Having a pair inspired some of us to be like “Mike” or to strive to achieve a level of greatness that is on par with his achievements.

In honour of this event, the Jumpman brand is releasing a remastered version of the iconic sneaker. The Air Jordan 1 “Banned” features tumbled leather throughout the upper complete with retro “Nike Air” branding on both the tongue and insole. You will be able to pick up a pair tomorrow, September 3rd with Nike SNKRS ‘The Draw’ going down from 10am-11am EDT, as well as select retail locations.

Furthermore, an Air Jordan XXXI sneaker inspired by the original “Banned” colour way is set to drop at the same time. This sneaker is geared towards the hardwood, as its built with Nike Zoom and Flightspeed tech fitted with a foam inner-sleeve for enhanced comfort and explosiveness. The upper consists of black synthetic leather at the heel which fades to a red gradient. At the bottom “BANNED” is adorned as a nod to the Air Jordan 1.
