"Discovering The Summer In The Mini Cooper"

During the dog days of summer, we spent some time in Mini’s iconic Cooper S convertible. For its 2019 model year, the three door has undergone subtle changes that injects some English into its overall look.

The most noticeable is within the tail lights, which, in a show of patriotism, have been outfitted with the Union Jack flag. There is also an option to have the flag motif illuminated within the passenger side of the dashboard. The shape of the Cooper S has also been made beefier to reflect Mini’s signature “wheel-pushed-out” body design.

The exterior is accented further with chrome finishings that complement the Cooper S’ clean lines. This touch adds a nice touch of luxury to its sportiness. Also new is a trio of paint options starting with Emerald Gray, Solaris Orange, and Starlight Blue.

At the front of the Cooper S, you’ll notice that the LED lights now illuminate in a full circle offering better visibility with the additional help cornering aids and fog lights. Should you opt for the new Piano Black trim, the outside grilles will match the glossy interior beautifully.

Besides its capabilities in delivering a dynamic drive with its 189-horsepower, four-cylinder, twin turbo engine; spending time with the Cooper S is also a somatosensory experience. The texture of the leather seating, stitched steering wheel, smooth touchscreen, and solid toggle knobs keeps the driver engaged as they make their way towards their destination.

From the tech side, Bluetooth connectivity and a 6.5-inch infotainment screen comes standard with options like heads-up display, wireless phone charging, navigation, Apple Carplay, and a larger 8.8-inch screen available.

For those who still love the feel of a manual transmission, Mini offers a highly responsive six-speed with well-balanced gear ratios, along with an automatic six-speed.

The Cooper S fits right in as a daily driver and for weekend short jaunts outside of the city. Being a car that is already fun to drive; having a convertible version brings it full circle.
