What began as a cryptic screenshot of The Weeknd mulling over releasing an unnamed project has turned into a full blown album release. The initial post was followed with what appeared to be an album cover with a never before seen title. The Toronto-born artist’s last album, Starboy, was released in 2016. Now, two years later, Abel will be releasing My Dear Melancholy at midnight.
Major publications like Billboard and Rolling Stone have confirmed that a new release is on the way. “This project is Abel taking it back to his roots. House of Balloons vibes,” a source told Billboard. Moreover, the album’s artwork has also appeared on advertising boards in London.
He was also recently spotted in an all-black ensemble by TMZ in Los Angeles, where his crew had to reportedly shut down the streets in Tiny Taft, California, for what seems to be a unannounced music video shooting.
The album is set to drop tonight at midnight eastern time, so make sure you tune into your streaming services.
