The Union x Jordan Brand Capsule Collection
34.0522° N, 118.2437° W“The Jordan stuff I wear now is like if I go to a vintage market and I find some really old stuff that’s kind of patina-ed or weathered in" - Chris Gibbs
Over the years, Los Angeles based retailer Union and its founder Chris Gibbs have been recognized for being a remarkable stockist and diligent tastemakers. This has lead to many collaborative products with renowned brands from all over the world, but the latest with the Jordan Brand is the one that has garnered the most buzz.
The collaboration was born from an idea of Gibbs. He wanted to create a special Jordan Brand collection that referenced the late ‘80s and early ‘90s era of sports, and combine that the vintage characteristics of the L.A flea markets he frequents. Once the brand’s designers heard of this; they simply asked “what year?”
The result is an extensive selection of apparel ranging from tees, hoodies, shorts, bottoms. All of which have been washed and treated to have a worn feel. It is Gibbs’ hope that when someone takes a look at the pieces, that they will feel like they have found a vintage gold-mine.
The highlight, of course, are the Air Jordan 1 sneakers, which fuses elements from its classic colourways. The first pair draws inspiration from the Bred and Storm Blue iterations, while the second combines the Black Toes and the White Grey releases. There is a noticeable stitching across the top that references DIY culture and vintage hunting, along with nods to Union’s commitment to quality with materials like premium leathers and suede.
For those interested in the White, Black, Varsity Red, Grey Air Jordan 1 will be available on SNKRS in EMEA, Greater China and North America. The second, White, Storm Blue, Black, Varsity Red Air Jordan 1 will be available exclusively at Union.
The Union x Air Jordan capsule releases November 17 at select retailers.
