PUMA & Roland Celebrate 808 Day
49.5683° N, 10.8829° E"The PUMA RS-0 Roland is a complete reboot of PUMA’s classic ’80s R-System line of running sneakers"
PUMA continues its retrospection into the world of analog with a collaboration with the Roland Corporation.
If you’re not familiar with Roland, they are the leading manufacturer of electronic music instruments and devices in the world. One of their most popular devices is the TR-808 drum machine, which has been used extensively by producers like DJ Premier, Lil Jon, and Kanye West. West even has an album titled “808s & Heartbreak.”
Being a sneaker of the past, it was only fitting that the PUMA RS-0 would pay homage to the 40 year heritage of the legendary drum machine and the massive role it has played in shaping modern music.
The RS-0 Roland is crafted from a premium leather black upper with perforated vents. It is completed with flat, reflective laces, reflective midsole details, and signature TR-808 colors: red, orange, and yellow on the formstrip. The sneaker is flanked with the words “Rhythm Composer” and “Bass Drum” on the midsole. PUMA and Roland branding can be found on the tongue label, footbed and the anodized metal hangtag.
Another PUMA sneaker, the RS-100 joins the RS-0 for an August 8, 2018 release on 808 Day.
