In a world full of footwear technology, it’s hard to discern which sneaker to wear when it comes to time to conquer the pavement. With their new Hybrid Rocket sneaker, PUMA has added itself to the short list.
At first glance, the Hybrid Rocket doesn’t look like your typical running sneaker and leans more towards a streetwear-esque aesthetic. Which is a good thing because you can safely sport the sneaker without the need of bringing a different pair after your workouts.
To create the Hybrid Rocket, the sportswear brand has melded its IGNITE FOAM and NRGY midsoles with the intent to offer the best return on energy and comfort during a race. Breathability is another important component of the sneaker with its fully-knitted upper that offers a sock-like fit.
We put the sneakers to the test and found them to be pretty responsive during our run. The Hybrid Rocket provides a good bounce and a stable ride. If you’re a runner than pronates, you’ll find the cages that flank both sides on the sneaker does a fairly good job at keeping your feet straight. Another important point to note is the lacing system. Besides its discreet placement, it adds an extra feeling of security to the knitted upper.
Whenever we wear the Hybrid Rocket, we feel ready to go at a moment’s notice. We plan on wearing the Hybrid Rocket on short runs and as a training shoe in the gym.
