Acura Days With The 2019 RDX

Everyone remembers their first car. Mine was a 1996 Acura Integra. It was not brand new but to me it might as well have been. It was a black, well-maintained, two-door coupe that squatted low to the ground. The interior was a cool grey and the seats were wrapped in a smooth leather that has softened over the years. The dashboard swopped lowly across and the center stack was the location of the cassette player, the radio, and temperature control.
During my younger years, Acura was mentioned often by my favourite music artists. They portrayed it as a an object of desire, success, freedom, and luxury. Influenced by their charisma, I made it a point to vicariously live, not exactly as they do, but to channel the same energy and enthusiasm into my life. Once I received the keys to the Integra, I felt like I had reached a milestone. The same stories they told still played through my speakers but now it was time for me to create my own.
As we fast forward through the better part of a decade, I’ve travelled to new cities, took in different sights, and experienced the world in a completely elevated way. I came back home with a new perspective on life. Just as I have have evolved as an individual, Acura as a premium automotive brand has been transformative in its own way. Under their three guiding words – Precision Crafted Performance – Acura has come into their own. This change is a far cry from our early Integra days and it has stimulated our senses. They have hit their stride with the new 2019 RDX crossover SUV.
My continual hunt to live a purposeful, functional, and elevated lifestyle is satisfied with the RDX. The exterior is sharper, more refined, every edge and corner has been acutely molded. The interior, complete with a panoramic moonroof, is laden with soft leather, brushed suede, matted wood trimmings, and smooth metal accents. The True Touch Pad Interface facilitates navigation, music, and allows for a seamless integration of Apple iOs devices. The RDX is equipped with a 272-horsepower, 2.0-liter, turbocharged, VTEC four-cylinder engine, a 10-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, and a SH-AWD (Super Handling All-Wheel Drive) system for optimal handling. There was a flood of memories and emotions that filled my mind as I drove the RDX. It reminded me of the same sense of freedom and growth that I felt all those years ago in our Integra.
Finishing the year with Acura feels serendipitous. As the days of 2018 slowly come to an end, the time for retrospection has arrived. From behind the sporty, leather wrapped steering wheel of RDX, driving through the same streets that I once did, I parrelled my growth with that of Acura’s.
The future looks promising.
