Dexter and Byron Peart, BA’95 (Economics), 34-year-old twins, are starting their venture with a luxury leather goods line called Want – Les Essentiels de la Vie. On their quest, they’re travelling from New York to Milan, Moscow to Cape Town, toting the first “essential” items from their line: computer bags and iPod cases. The computer bags are named after Trudeau and de Gaulle. Dexter and Byron were born in Ottawa, took twin economics degrees from University of Western Ontario and moved to Montreal in 1995 and 1996, respectively.

With Dexter having spent eight years as vice president of Sixty Canada, and Byron five years as Marketing Director of Diesel Canada, the stylish twosome have already clocked up plenty of fashion experience between them. Noticing a gap in the accessories market for something a little different, WANT Les Essentiels de la Vie caters for everyone from the stylish jetsetter to the seasonal weekend traveler.

Their project

The Twins, as they are known throughout the downtown scene, have garnered the attention and affection of the fashion and music communities with their unparalleled style and energy. They have appeared in fashion spreads and advertisements in the world’s most influential style magazines. They have had their portrait painted by renowned fine artist Kehinde Wiley and have popped up in advertising campaigns for Puma, Nike, Supreme, BBC, Marc Jacobs and A New York Thing, as well as in editorials for Teen Vogue, The New York Post and Paper Magazine. The Twins’ accessories – belts and brooches by Dee and Ricky- were commissioned by renowned fashion designer Marc Jacobs for his New York Fashion WeekSpring 2008 rtwrunway show.

Being a identical twin myself, I find it very inspiring to see other twins doing big things in their domain.
