My Thoughts: Kick in The Door
August 25th, 2010It’s no fun unless you’re kicking down doors! Why strive for mediocrity? I feel that some people are just sitting back and waiting for things to happen, some of them are even watching people make things happen. I’m not trying to sound like Tony Robins but I believe he’s right when he says we can achieve anything we put our minds to, but what I’m saying is that you might have to kick in a door or two.
The world wants us to be great and God wants us to be great but it’s not just going to happen without some effort on our own part.
I’ve always tried to push myself to the limits and achieve things others never dared to. I’ve set up personal goals and achievements that I want for myself and I’m kicking down doors to make it happen. Sometimes the door happens to be open and other times they’re 20inch thick bolted door…those are the most fun.
I was reading some comments on a blog today about this Jacket I customized with Nike and some guy wrote, “who [expletive] is marcus troy and why does he get this?” You know who I am? I am a guy who kicks down [expletive] doors, I also think I’m Malcolm X, Martin Luther, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and all the other people who have done things to change the game, change the world or simply just change their world. If someone tells you they don’t want to be great that is BS! You get my point?
I believe we can be what’s next if we decide we want that position. The minute you decide you want to be next, your whole state of mind will begin to change and then kicking down doors won’t seem as tough or impossible.
As a lifestyle blogger I want to achieve greatness, in my personal life I want to achieve greatness. Before you question someone’s validity, you should start questioning your own and ask yourself are you prepared to kick down doors? Or are you just going to sit back and watch others do it?
I believe we all have to start somewhere, do you think the greats were born great or did they become great? They had to kick down doors just like you and I have to.
I think we should all start kicking down some doors because it’s just not as fun if we aren’t

Thanks man, needed to read something like that today….
That’s interesting because, I saw the same post with the sweatshirt and it actually motivated me, especially when you told me that you have to be invited by Nike.
keep pushin man, because you are kickin down the doors for other cats to follow.
one.
Great post, Marcus. Always gotta be makin’ moves.
You are part of a group that inspires a lot of people including my self!
Peace
@Jose A Romero You guys also inspire me!
@Alejandro Thanks man.
@Tremayne kicking down doors is all we can do.
I always like to learn one thing or read one thing that makes me think, “how can I make myself better?” You have been my personal be better statement of the day, I would like to see more posts like this but I would keep coming back all the same
it’s cool you wanna be great but why are you comparing yourself to Martin Luther, Malcom X….
you don’t exactly blog about very important issues, no offense….
i still love what you and the blog!
@steve I was trying to prove a point, but I will say that my blog is only a portion of what I do in my personal life.
Marcus, I respect your synonymous comparison that you made to Martin Luther King, and Malcom x, why because as a Dominican male for many of us it seems like our doors were bolted in the womb. Your content is so very true in the likes that we have to find that constant inspiration to break the barriers/obstacles perhaps un bolt the doors and seek greatness. I myself also find to set the bar high in finding greatness by saying “how would he have done it” that is whomever we find inspiration through. That is much of God’s plan for us to find inspiration and love from one another, it just take time and maturation to get it.
Nice post man. I’ma be honest with you and say that jacket dones for Nike on the whole wasn’t my favourite jacket in the whole world although I was really diggin’ certain details on the jacket (I have an obssession with details and small fonts on clothing). Like that ‘know’ ‘originate’ embroidery….dope!
But I’m glad you addressed those idiots who commented. I’ve got a thing at the moment about the fact that, just because someone dislikes something, doesn’t mean it’s hating. But those guys were hating man because they were trynna get at you as a person rather than sticking to the matter at hand. Hate has no logic, insulting you as a person rather than commenting on your work already tells you the type of people they are so you don’t need to concern yourself with them man.
Great post.
Always an inspiration.

Great post!!!!There is hater everywhere. Those will make you stronger. No matter what you do there will be critics. People dont like when somebody is doing good. That just dumb. Everybody have the same opportunity but they dont take them. People dont know you work hard to be where you at? People see what they wanna a see oh he got this oh he got that. Those people dont see the hard work they need to read your thought but watching the clothes and shoes
Very well said..unfortunately there are so many people in this world who will never know themselves..for fear of becoming accountable to it. These people will always be your most ignorant critics…you putting yourself out there..makes them recognize what they are “not” doing..
I truly believe that the majority of talent is hidden behind peoples inability to be vulnerable.
People who have a passion for creating are able to adapt to all areas..a writer can be a painter of words…or a sculptor of music…
I really believe that hard work creates an energy that brings oppurtunities to you.. You are a great example of this..keep sharing your ideas, keep creating, it just makes your brand stronger and its reach, further.
Best of luck.
“The minute you decide you want to be next, your whole state of mind will begin to change and then kicking down doors won’t seem as tough or impossible.”
As you know, i’ve already decided im next. Thanks for your inspiration.
GREAT post MT. I totally agree with your thoughts on becoming great. I’m also a firm believer in that having the thought process where thinking creates things, definitely is inspiring and motivating, because you suddenly start to see progressive changes in the way you think and how you view things. When you mentioned thinking you are going to be great and wanting to be the next, your right that alone will fuel the grind necessary to get you there. So shout out for this dope article, I was very intrigued and continue to do radical things dude.
