How do you separate yourselves from others? Get yourself a Grammy!

Some of you are probably thinking I’m crazy right now but I want you guys to hear me out. It’s a known fact that you can only get a Grammy if you’re in the music business or affiliated with it but I am talking about getting a Grammy figuratively speaking.

What I really mean is get “your Grammy” get the highest accolades you can in you field, domain, or in your profession. Those are the things that separate you from others… I believe that artist strive for a Grammy to really leave their mark in history and separate themselves from the other artist. I believe all people should strive for those accolades.

These accomplishments are usually very personal and not for bragging rights even though sometimes you may achieve them in the public eye.

Are you following? It seems like everyone is following everyone else. Everyone wants to be an artist, blogger, photographer, tastemaker, and journalist, radio personality, magazine editor the list goes on. If everyone wants to be the same how does one separate themselves? I believe its accolades or personal achievements that separate you from the rest of the people in your lane.

Whatever the equivalent is to a Grammy that is what I am taking about. It could be as simple as a university degree, it can be a collaboration with a major brand, an interview with “a hard to get” artist. These accolades are the things you need under your belt to separate yourself from the masses. I think the more accolades you achieve the more opportunities automatically come your way. I was really proud when Angie Martinez from Hot 97 got invited to the White House, I mean she has come such a long way as radio personality, I think those kind of accomplishments really separates her from  the other RP out there.

You want to become a member of the “accolade” club…I’m sure there is a secret Grammy club or Oscar club. Birds of a feather flock together, when you win, you will be surrounding with winners.

As a blogger, there are always accolades or “Grammy’s” I am working towards achieving. They are personal goals I set up for myself as benchmarks and to measure my accomplishments as a blogger.

I hope you guys can do the same for whatever field you are in!

I’m going in for the KILL word to B.E and La Roux

Just my thoughts!

Peace

Accolades come naturally when you out work your peers. The real question is… what’s that thing that pushes you to work harder than your peers, cause trying to gain accolades isn’t it, trust me on that one.

Greg Washington.. In response to your post:

The very thing that pushes one for the accolade may be the accolade itself. When someone wins an Oscar they often say: “My career goal was to win an Oscar.” That may be the ONLY thing that pushes one to reach this. Thus, the oscar/accolade is then the thing that pushes one to work harder than their peers. Trust me when I say an accolade does not come naturally. Nothing is given to us because of who our peers are and whether or not we work out with them.etc.
