My Life: My Visit To Pratt Institute Of Design
December 8th, 2010This past Monday I touched down in New York as an invited guest to speak at The Pratt Institute of Design. The mission was to speak to the students and critique their portfolio and resume in order to prepare them for their career in the future work force. It was such an honor to share this experience with so many other talented industry heads and CEO’s.
I invited my friend William Yan down to document this wonderful experience.
My first student was a quiet young lady from Cambodia who had a lot of interesting work, she created some really great designs and table tops. It was really amazing to engage with such talented people and give them advice and insight on what the world is like. They were extremely receptive and grateful to have industry professionals help them out.
Some of the work was so exceptional that if some of these designs and ideas came to fruition I think it would really change the market place.
I also met some of my followers of the site! They were super surprised to see me and sit down with me. I guess I was more surprised to sit down with them. It is such a great honor to meet supporters!
The students are beyond talented and have such great grasp on design, they will be the leaders of the industry and it was such a great honor to be part of such a dynamic group of people & students.
Thanks to The faculty at Pratt for such a warm welcome!
A special thanks to Kevin Crowley & William Yan.

Very inspiring brother! I love seeing you in action
thats awesome Marcus! did you ever attend a design school? or has all your design work come to life from meeting people in the industry, through your own blog?
Great to see them really priming the students for the big bad world. Hope you took in the campus even though all the leaves were probably gone.
@marcustroy ya man, each of them gave me $10,000 scholarships and I couldn’t get enough fin. aid to cover the rest. smh. 40k a year
