Footwear: Dr. Martens 1460
August 5th, 2010This fall is all about having a good pair of Dr. Martens in your rotation. Back in the day I went to school with Skinheads and DM’s were pretty much part of their uniform so I never really took a liking to them. A few years later R&B singers appropriated them and they become pretty popular amongst my friends. For the past couple of years a lot of my Japanese peers have been rocking Dr. Martens as a statement piece and all of the recent collaborations have made them an item to have. I’m really feeling the rich leather of these 1460′s.

Your thoughts?

Having grown up, taking elements from skinhead fashion throughout my youth (I’d be hesitant to say that I was a skin as I also drew from skate culture, punk rock, hip hop, etc.), DM’s have always been great in my eyes. Though I can certainly understand your initial apprehension if you grew up in Montreal from what I know of the skinhead scene there. Unfortunately too many boneheads still seem to forget that skin style, music, and culture has entirely black rudeboy roots. Then again, no one ever accused neo-nazis of being all that bright.
Anyway, getting back to the boots… another classic piece, perfect for this upcoming fall.
