Having a pair of navy blue Converse is essential, having it in the 1970 version is also important. Because unlike the Chuck Taylor All Star Classic, the ’70s are more premium in every way, as the canvas upper is tougher and the midsole is thicker and more comfortable.

British designer Nigel Cabourn has returned with Converse to offer up a navy version for their latest collaboration. His Chuck Taylor ’70s utilizes a military spec L34 Ventile, a high performance cotton that is weatherproof and breathable. The navy exterior and the grey interior is inspired by the 1955 Trans Antarctic Expedition, while the laces take inspiration from mountain rope.

If you’re looking for a navy pair to add to your rotation, this is the one. What’s more is that this is a limited edition release so there won’t be many out there like it.

$180.

Available online at Nigel Cabourn.
