I was invited down to Austin Texas during SXSW to speak on a panel at Style X, which was pretty amazing. I got to sit on a panel with some of my esteemed fashion colleagues to about talk fashion, media, sneakers and streetwear. I’m sure if you wait a few weeks a video will surface documenting the conversations and jokes. Thanks to the visionary Joah Spearman for the invite and his partner Niraj for the hospitality.

I also witnessed a great conversation about women’s fashion with some of the industries most notable bloggers.

A lot of my industry friends also spoke on panels that were extremely interesting.

When I woke up in Aspen, I had no clue that I would be driving the new Bentley Continental GTC V8. The car is seriously beautiful and there isn’t much more I can say about it. I took the car throughout the hills of Aspen where I met up with Bernard from Acquired Magazine. I was trying to snap pics of Bernard in my rearview mirror as he drove the amazing Bentley Supersports Convertible ISR (Ice Speed Record). We drove around for a few hours and then headed back to take in Aspen Fashion Week. The show opened up with a daring stunt from Ted Davenport who did a “Winged-B” sky dive from 3,000 feet into the show.

I got to hang out with my favorite people in the industry, watch some shows and push some amazing vehicles.

A few weeks ago I was invited to Aspen to attend Fashion Week as a guest of The Bentley Motors. I was picked up a in the new 2012 Bentley Continental Flying Spur by a gentleman by the name of Cash. He was extremely nice and was kind enough to break down all the pertinent details of a Bentley vehicle. The car was extremely luxurious and beautiful. Every detail was outstanding and the craftsmanship was superb. I always perceived Bentleys to be an older gentlemans car until I sat in the backseat and I realized how cool these vehicles really are. The Bentley team secured me a nice room at the newly renovated St-Regis Hotel, which was warm, comfortable and accommodating. Look out for the Hotel Review this week. Outside of the St-Regis Hotel, a fleet of Bentley cars were parked. The most impressive vehicle was the new Bentley Mulsanne which is valued at about 400K. At this particular point I knew that I was in for a great week. Stay tuned for Day 2 of my Bentley Aspen Fashion Week experience.

Listening to Nike CEO Mark Parker talk about innovation and product is a really incredible experience.  To think that he was once a designer for Nike and eventually became the CEO is aslo very impressive. We were invite to NYC to take part in the innovation summit where Nike unveiled their latest offerings for the 2012 Olympics.

The installation at Mercer was incredible. This is what a 500k installation looks like. The shoes are so light that they were floating via laser and a magnet. How crazy is that? They went to Amsterdam to source the technology to make that happen.

It was a packed week of activities, product testing and events surrounding the Nike Innovation summit. We got some one on one time with Mark Parker and Hiroshi Fujiwara at 21 Mercer to talk about the HTM collection. We got to test out some of the new Nike + sneakers, and we also got to interact with some of Nikes amazing athletes. Check out my experience with the HTM’s.

It was a great week of action and events and all I have to say is that the future looks bright!

10 things I learned from the summit.

1. July 29th is the release date for new Nike + Product & free application.

2. The Nike + Basketball shoes and Training shoes will be equipped with new sensors embedded in the shoe. ( comes with adapters at purchase)

3. Using sensors, your Nike+ Training shoes capture reps, NikeFuel and calories, and transmit your performance to your phone in real time

4. With drill packs, challenges and daily workouts guided by the world’s greatest athletes, the pros become your trainers, your friends become your competition, and your next level is just another rep away.

5. The Nike Hyperdunk+ tracks every move of your game, and syncs directly to your phone, letting you know exactly how high, how quick and how hard you play.

6. The Fuel band went on sale yesterday in the US and is now available online and in select Nike stores.

7. The HTM product is limited and is only available in New York, London and Japan.

8. Mark Parker is a cool guy.

9. Nike is becoming a technology company.

10. I love my HTM Flyknits.

A few weeks ago I was invited to participate in the #firstlove campaign by Dr. Martens. They asked a few bloggers and influencers to submit instagram pictures of their “first love” for the exhibit that was going to be displayed on location at the Dr. Martens store in Toronto. A lot of great pictures came out of this art exhibit. One of my favorite pictures: “The boots behind the fence” was shot by Chris from TOAL, although not an instagram picture it was incredible nonetheless.

I got a chance to meet the Airplane Boys, hang with some friends and enjoy good snacks and company. Thanks Dr.Martens for the love and consideration.
