The team over at Blackberry invited me to their offices for a 1 on 1 session with a Blackberry Specialist to introduce me to all the new features of the Blackberry Playbook 2.0. ( what a great idea) A few of the new features got me really excited and I’ve laid them out for you incase you have a Playbook or you were planning on getting one. They were kind enough to give me a brand new Playbook with some really nice accessories, like this beautiful Want Les Essentiels de La Vie leather case with 2 tone zipper. The HDMI wire to connect my Playbook to my TV and a Blackberry Moleskin.
After the presentation I had a whole new outlook on the Playbook. A few advantages of the the Playbook is that you never really have to change it, they will continue to update the platform and the technology so you can hold onto the device for a longer period of time. Oh and look out for Blackberry 10 coming soon…

BlackBerry Bridge
BlackBerry Bridge functionality that allows you to use your BlackBerry smartphone as a remote control for your PlayBook. Great for presentations or using your blackberry with your TV.

All-New Built-In Functionality
Built-in email, calendar and contacts. Unique to BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0, you can now manage all of your email accounts with a unified inbox, manage your schedule with new features like a People View of your day (which lets you quickly see everyone who is on your agenda for that day), and view your contacts as a social hub that contains information from popular social networks including Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

Social Integration in Calendar & Contacts
The built in calendar is designed to pull in the information that matters to you from your social networks and make it available where and when you need it. Contact cards are dynamically populated with the latest real-time information from your Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn accounts to create a consolidated view of your contacts most recent updates.

Applications
The 2.0 update also now runs most of the Android applications. This will only get better with time.

This week I got the New Ipad or what some are calling it in the streets the Ipad 3 and I had a chance to play around with it today and I have to admit that I love it. I wanted to share with you all my 8 tips for the New Apple Ipad.

1. Multi Touch Gestures
In settings/general you can turn on some interesting multitasking gestures that makes for a great user experience.
Use four or five fingers to:
- Pinch To Home Screen
- Swipe up to reveal multitasking bar
- Swipe left or right between apps

2. Typing Shortcuts
- Hold down exclamation marks or periods for other typing options
- You can split the keyboard by placing two fingers near the centre of the keyboard and dragging them apart.
- In Settings/General you can have shortcuts for the words you use most often. You can type words like OMW for ON MY WAY

3. Titlebar to return to top of Websites
- You can quickly scroll to the top of any website by tapping the top of a titlebar. ( Tap where the time is displayed)

4. Close Apps and Switch Apps quickly
- Double tap home Screen to see all your apps. If you hold down on each app you can shut them down manually or even switch to a app quicker.

5. Tap Home Button 3 times
- Press the home button 3 times which brings up accessibility options for zoom, voice over and inverted image.

6. Buy the Camera Connection Kit
- If you love taking photo’s with DLSR or Point and Shoot you should buy the Camera Kit. It’s about $45 and you can upload your sd card straight to your ipad or download straight from your camera.

7. Iphoto & Photos
-Use the Photo app that comes on your Ipad to edit your photos. Or you can purchase Iphoto for 4.99 which operates like the iphoto on your Mac.

8. Airplay
- You can mirror your ipad to your television with Apple TV. Open the iPad’s multitasking menu by swiping upwards with four fingers or double-tap the home button, you’ll see a range of player controls and, if your iPad is on the same WiFi network as an Apple TV, you’ll see the AirPlay logo Tap that to mirror your screen. Great for sharing photos and video from your Ipad.

8. It’s water repellant so you can getaway with using in it in the shower a few times.

9. When it’s not actively on, it looks very stealth.

10. Kevin Durant says he likes it.

This is insane!

Victorinox unveiled a Swiss Army Knife that houses a USB 3.0 SSD drive with up to 1TB of storage capacity. “the world’s smallest high-capacity SSD (solid state drive).”

One terabyte = 1,000 gigabytes, more than most people have on their laptop hard or flash drives.

Looking for a new camera? I’ve been looking to replace my G9 for some time now and I think this might be the one. I made a quick fact sheet on what you need to know.

* 4X-optical-zoom lens (28mm to 112mm, F2.8 to F16)
* 14.3-megapixel
* PowerShot G1 X’s sensor has the same pixel density as the company’s 18-megapixel APS-C DSLR sensor
* The PowerShot G1 X shoots 1080p video at 24fps (Full HD)
* PowerShot G1 X will achieve a very shallow depth of field at wide-angle, shoot sharper low-light images
* G1 X is able to shoot 6 frames per second at full resolution, and ISO settings range up to 12,800
* Battery life has taken a hit, as it’s rated for 220 shots per charge with the LCD screen on
* Due in February for $800

Enjoy!

This is pretty interesting. This will take instagram to a whole other level

How cool is this iPhone Lens Dial from photojojo, that features a rotating dial with three different lenses: a 0.7x wide angle, a 0.33x fish-eye, and a 1.5x telephoto. The dial is made from aircraft grade aluminum, holes in the rotating dial will let you take pictures with the iPhones regular camera.

If you’re anything like us, a trip to the Optometrist is a real treat. It’s like a Photographer’s dreamland! Full of big, beautiful, and fascinating optical gadgets.

After all, getting new glasses is like getting a new lens for your brain. (If only our health insurance covered a Canon L lens).

That must be why The iPhone Lens Dial caught our EYE (heh). It looks just like a Phoropter, that doohickey the doc uses to test our sight!

The iPhone Lens Dial boasts three optical-quality coated glass lenses: Wide Angle, Fisheye, and Telephoto. All wrapped up in a slim aircraft-grade aluminum jacket equipped with two tripod mounts (for portrait or landscape shots).

To switch between lenses just rotate the disc! Best part: the lenses never leave your phone, so they’re always at the ready.

Use the 0.7x Wide Angle for sweeping landscapes or get fun warped images with the 0.33x Fisheye. Switch to the 1.5x Telephoto and get nearly two times closer to your subject. Wowza.

The Lens Dial: like a new pair of spectacles for your iPhone!

I had a chance to play around with a few Android phones and I have to say that the technology and the interface is pretty awesome. This new phone is set to drop really soon and it is getting people excited. Thinking about creating a Marcus Troy app for Android. It seems only right!
