In a few short years since its introduction to the footwear world, the sneakerboot has quickly become a winter essential. With snow around the corner, Adidas has prepared us for the harsh and unpredictable weather with the introduction of their new AF boot series.

The AF line’s statement piece, the AF 1.3 PK sneakerboot, was inspired by Germany’s elite tactical police unit, the GSG 9. The shoe blends modern aesthetics with the extremely practical incorporations of technical elements such as a Primeknit upper coated with an overlay for waterproofing. Also, it’s further reinforced with a weather-resistant inner lining and an insulated sockliner. All of this sits atop a heavy-duty hiking outsole. The second silhouette, the AF 1.4 PK, exhibits the same elements but into a black, low-top form that counters the pure white palette from the taller boot.

What appeals to us from this AF series is the subtle appearance of the 3-striped branding. We also appreciate the versatility of the boots, which can be worn in colder climates but still look and feel sneaker-like. All this to say, that sneaker enthusiast don’t have to completely comprise this coming winter.

$160-$200.

Both silhouettes will be released globally today, October 19th, at select Adidas Originals retailers.
