For those who aren’t familiar with Bouclair, it is a Canadian-based home furnishing company that was born forty-seven years ago. What began as a textile and sewing business is now a multi-faceted homewares brand with stores across Canada. One their most recent ventures is Bouclair x studio, which offers contemporary and design-centric pieces for the home.

A lot of my personal aesthetic is inspired by Japan, and every year I find myself in Tokyo taking in the city’s sights, sounds, and food. The Japanese have a meticulous approach to everything that they do and I try to do the same when it came time to put together my new office. The Bouclair x studio store is curated by mood with their help I found pieces that expressed my sentiments about Japan. The pieces I’ve picked out are accent pieces for my new office. When I spotted the “Inked” collection from Bouclair x studio, the handsome blue gradient on the decorative pieces reminded me of Japan’s oldest traditions, indigo dyeing. The process begins by extracting the  colour from the leaves of the indigo plant. The dye is then used for different textiles ranging from kimonos, towels, and beddings. It’s most popular uses today is for their denim.
