This is a powerful exhibit! Such great reference points to Hip Hop music that I love and once was inspired by. Check it out if you have a chance. I even think some of these pieces are for sale.
I met Mega from Black Scale while I was out in LA this year and he seemed like a pretty cool dude with a strong movement. He teamed up with Android Homme for a footwear collaboration which we will see more of soon. From these pictures, the sneaker looks pretty dope. I’ve been wearing a lot of all black patent leather sneakers as of late, so these are up my alley.

In the never ending quest to be original and different, very few brands have the eye or the foresight, so you are left with a bunch of things that always look the same. I discovered Android Homme footwear (love the name) about a year and half ago and I’ve been slowly monitoring their progress. These Android Homme Propulsion II are something pretty serious. They look simple and clean but at the same time they look full of life and character.
“The Propulsion II is part of the Holiday 2009 Collection. The duotone silhouette takes inspiration from the sleekness of a rocket ship, including a rocket booster ripple detail along the backside of the hi-top. The Propulsion II embodies a +/- charge, or a yin and yang polarity and is offered in a limited run of 200 pairs total. Features include full grain pebbled and pounded leathers and pigskin lining, as well as an embossed single strap and waxed laces.”
The Android Homme Holiday 2009 collection will be available December 1st in finer boutiques nationwide.
Yesterday I went to La Banquise a 24/h Poutine joint in Montreal for the first time believe it or not. I eat Poutine all the time but never at this famous spot. A lot of people surprisingly enough still don’t know what Poutine is so I will explain: Poutine (Quebec French pronunciation “putsin” is a dish consisting of French fries topped with fresh cheese curd, covered with brown gravy and sometimes additional ingredients. Poutine is a diner staple which originated in Quebec and can now be found across Canada. It is usual sold by fast food chains.
La Banquise figured out how to turn this fast food staple into a speciality with all types of additional toppings and ingredients such as bacon, chicken, onions, ground beef and pretty much anything else you can think of.
It was amazing! If you live in Montreal and have not tried it yet, make sure you do and if you’re visiting us make it a special stop.
Yesterday I went to Hazan Albert Opticien in Montreal to see my homie Rick, who as one of the best eyewear stores in Montreal. If you’re ever in Montreal and you’re looking for some amazing items for your face, check him out. They stock all your favorite brands and celebrity frames such as Oliver Peoples, Mosley Tribes and Dita just to name a few.
I’m sure you’ve see Jay-z sporting these around, these are the Dita Grandmaster’s they make you feel like a rapper! I swear…
Last week I received a pair of Tier 0 Nike Blazer V Lux Lo in red. This are so dope and fresh, don’t you think? I’ve always had a thing for sneakers with Velcro straps (I’m I lazy?)
The fellas at Off The Hook received some items from the coveted Porter collection and they were nice enough to hook me up with a piece. I chose the camera pouch that can attach to your belt loop or strap to your belt. The Heat collection derives its name from the use of fire-retardant/bullet-proof Kevlar. The mechanism on this piece is incredible, so simple but so advanced.
Thanks to Angelo, Harry, Vince, Maura & the rest of the crew.
We all remember what LV did last year when they covered the entire facade of Takashi Murakami’s iconic Monogram Multicolored print. This year, the store facade display is inspired by the city stamp artwork that Ruben Toledo designed for the Louis Vuitton City Guides.
